We didn't make it to bed until almost midnight last night, and the alarm went off at 3am. We were sooo tired before we even got started. We all took showers and were in the lobby of the hotel by 4am. We loaded everything onto the shuttle and arrived at the airport just before 5am.
Lydia was wide awake and so excited to be on her way to Korea to meet her baby brother. She wanted on the plane as soon as we got to the airport. We had a couple hours before our plane boarded, so we grabbed a donut and some juice. We played a few games of uno and tried to relax.
The flight to Dallas was just shy of two hours. Lydia did really well on this flight. She had a lot of questions as we were taking off. She played a few games on the way and let me hold her for the last thirty minutes of the flight...we all needed some sleep. I am so thankful for my husband that let me lay down on his lap with Lydia on my chest to get a few minutes of sleep before we landed.
The layover in Dallas was the hardest part. Lydia again wanted on the plane right away. She wasn't very patient while we tried to find our next gate, or when we were deciding where to eat lunch. The only thing in that wing was Popeye's and Fudpuckers. We thought the chicken would be too hot for her, so we opted for a burger...a $10 burger, but it was so worth it.
After we ate we went into a few shops and looked around, then headed to our gate. They were to load within a few minutes. They lined everyone up and we stood there for over 45 minutes due to some weather delay. Lydia was a mess by this point. Actually, Lydia was just acting a bit crazy since she was so tired and ready to get moving. I was the one who was a mess. I just wanted on that plane and get that 14.5 hour flight over with.
The flight was very smooth. The service was great. We all watched a few movies, played some games and got some rest. Lydia slept for an hour at the beginning of the flight and then for 3 at the end of the flight. She did GREAT!!! Never cried, or got upset. She sat there like a perfect angel. So happy for that:)
The flight was very LONG but we made it here safely and that is all that matters. When our plane landed we were greeted by someone from Holt who drove us to the Somerset. When we arrived, we were just basically let out of the van and left to fend for ourselves. We were not able to exchange our money at the hotel and the bank was closed. There was only one restaurant in the hotel and it was $120 a plate. We knew of nothing else to eat, no one had contacted us on what to do from there. This is when I fell apart. I just sat and cried. I am sure most of it was from the jet lag, but the other part was feeling all alone, starving and starting to stink.Justin and Lydia ended up just eating some poptarts...yum! Then we all took showers, called home and are finally ready for bed.
Here's to hoping tomorrow is a better day!
The night before we left for Korea!
